| The Blast Furnace Area program was
started in July 2005. The program consisted of the following:
| Investigation Type |
Number of samples |
| Boreholes |
12 |
| Monitor Wells |
30 |
| Test pits |
48 |
| Surface soil samples |
27 |
In all, over 508 analyses were performed on approximately 168 soil
and water samples. Preliminary data indicate that some metals and
PAHs are elevted in fill materials, and isolated area of petroleum
impact are present where fuel or lubricants were used for long periods.
These types of impacts are typical of industrial operations dating
from the mid-20th Century.
The Phase II ESA was completed in the spring of 2006, with the
Phase III ESA expected to begin in summer 2006.
A drawing is provided of the Blast Furnace Area.
