The Blast Furnace Stockyard/No. 1 & 2 Piers program was started in June 2003. The program consisted of the following:

In all, over 250 analyses were performed on approximately 120 soil and water samples. Laboratory testing indicates that PAH are occasionally present above some guideline values and, as in other study areas, some metals are present in the fill materials.

An area of petroleum and hydrocarbon impact located is to the east of the former No. 1 & 2 Piers (“Steel Pier” and “Ore Pier”). No other significant environmental issues were identified.

Phase 3 testing is completed.
